For scheduling and time recording TLC uses the Rosemark Scheduling Software.  This cloud-based system allows staff to access all the necessary shift information and to clock in and clock out from the Client’s location with either a smartphone app or traditional telephone.

QUICK FACTS

1. Not a Temporary Agency

TLC Healthcare is not a temporary agency.  All hires work for TLC and are employees of our company.  Employees may be assigned to the same client or several clients.

2. Employee Rights

As an employee of TLC Healthcare Services, you are protected under Canadian and Ontario Labour laws.  Standard employee deductions and employer contributions for Income Tax, CPP and EI are applied as well as the 4% vacation pay rate.  Employees are also covered by WSIB and liability insurance.

3. Scheduling and Time Recording

TLC Healthcare has implemented a paperless scheduling and time recording system.  This system uses either a mobile app or direct telephone contact, as well as a web based portal.

4. Full-Time

A full-time position is a minimum of 30 hours per week.    Shift assignment priority is to full-time staff.   As there are times that shift requests are made at short notice, employees must make themselves available on the days they have agreed.

5. Part-Time

A part-time position is a minimum of 21hours per week.    As there are times that shift requests are made at short notice, employees must make themselves available on the days they have agreed.

6. Casual

Casual positions are based on the availability provided by the employee.  Employees will be asked on a biweekly basis to provide the days and times they are available to take TLC shift assignments.   As there are times that shift requests are made at short notice, employees must make themselves available on the days they have agreed.

7. Documentation & Compliance

As healthcare professionals there is significant documentation required to comply with Ministry regulations.

Employees will be required to provide proof of current

  • CPIC
  • Negative TB test
  • Immunizations
  • Fit to Work
  • Current WHMIS, AODA & 4 Step Health & Safety Certificates
  • Mask Fit Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Professional certificates and/or registrations
  • 3 professional work related references of which 2 are supervisors

Shifts cannot be assigned until documentation has been received.

8. Orientation

TLC ensures that employees are orientated to the client before working a shift.  A Team Leader will meet and orientate staff to facilities.

In the case of some facilities, orientation packages are sent electronically to staff to review and complete online.

9. Shift Assignment & Offers

Shifts will be both assigned and offered to staff.  Assigned shifts are based on the prearranged availability agreements.  Employees are obligated to work any assigned shift.

Shift Offers are for unassigned shifts.  The Offer is sent out to available staff and the first person to press Yes! is awarded the shift.

Whether assigned or offered, shifts are made available to employees based on their qualifications and preferences.
